ical processes including cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, lipid metabolism and coagulation. TNF-α is a trimeric protein encoded within the major histocompatibility complex. It was first identified in its 17 kd secreted form, but further research then showed that a noncleaved 27kd precursor form also existed in transmembrane form.
